Tupan

An ancient thunder god of the Tupi-Guarini in Brazil. The missionaries in Brazil and Paraguay used his name to denote the Christian God and is still so used by the converted Indians and mestizos of the Amazon basin. The word tupan has taken on the meaning of sacred.
