Tapairu
"Without equal". The name of a race of Polynesian nymphs who may arise from limpid pools on moonlit nights to join dancers (see: Tau-Titi). The Tapairu also inhabit the pool that leads to the underworld. The goddess of death Miru sends them out to seduce men away from the earth.
