Si-ming
The "Lord of Fate", who determines the life span of each individual. He keeps a register of the transgressions and omissions of mankind, of which he informs
Tai-yi, the Supreme One, at the same time asking him to lengthen or shorten the life span of the individual accordingly. He has two books, the Book of Death, containing the names of all who must die, and the Book of Live, those of the immortals.
Later he became identified with the hearth god Zao-jun, one of the most important deities in Chinese folk religion.
