Father Christmas; the Christmas gift-bringer represented as a fat, jolly old man who drives a sleigh pulled by reindeer. He is identified with Saint Nicholas, the patron of children, and his name is a corruption of the Dutch name of the saint, Sint Nikolaas (Sinterklaas)
