Phra Upakud
A Thai monk who, according to legend, attained supernatural powers. He transformed himself into a piece of white marble submerged in the Mun River. At the first day of the three-day festival Phi Ta Khon in Loei (8-10 July), the day of Wan Home, a procession of villagers attempts to invoke the spirit of Pra Upakud for it is believed that his supernatural powers can protect them from evil spirits.
