The most prominent goddess of the Singhalese and Tamil pantheon on Sri Lanka. Pattini (Patni) is the patroness of marriage and she holds plagues at bay. It is believed that she introduced rice to the inhabitants of Sri Lanka (formerly known as Ceylon).
