Omitsunu
The King of Izumo on Japan's west coast. In this small but very old country town there is a great temple in which the gods meet annually in October to discuss the fate of humanity (see: Assembly of the Gods). This king, the grandson of Susanowa, enlarged his kingdom by pulling up islands from the sea with a rope. Something similar was done by the Polynesian god-king
Maui.
