Old Man

by Gerald Musinsky
Old Man or Old Man Coyote is the elevated trickster/transformer of the Plains, West and Southwest. He is more of a sage than a mischievous fool, imparting knowledge and sacred rituals to the people. Many early ethnologists were not clear as to the distinctions from common to sacred language of the Native Americans.
