The culture hero and teacher of the Dagon people of Mali, Sudan, and Upper Volta. He represents the totality of the cosmos (originally a huge egg). He was created by his father Amma as a twin, half man half snake. Nommo sent the first smith to earth in an ark which sails across the rainbow and which contains a copy of every living creature, all minerals and techniques. His brother and antipode is the trickster Yurugu.
