The female shaman of the Adi people of Arunachal Pradesh (Himalayas). She is consulted in case of illness and, by looking at a set of leaves or the liver of a chicken, is able to distinguish if the illness has a natural or supernatural cause. Through contact with the spirits she is also able to foretell the future. Most villages have a resident miri.
