In Fens (western Bantu) mythology, the creator. He made a man out of clay. At first, his creation was a lizard, whom he put in the great big sea water for five days. On the fifth day, Mbere looked and saw a lizard. He looked again on the eigth day, and the lizard came out. But when the lizard emerged from the water, he was a man. "Thank you," said the man to Mbere.
