In the Bible, these are great hostile powers and the leaders of the last battle against the followers of Jesus Christ. These powers are controlled by Satan and will appear just before the end of the world. In biblical literature, they are also the names of a king (Gog) and his land (Magog). In rabbinical literature, Gog and Magog are symbols for forces that oppose authentic religion.
