Ghost Chair

by Rabbi Geoffrey W. Dennis
A kind of bier for the spirit of the dead on which it is conveyed to the underworld. It was apparently a permanent feature in many Mesopotamian temples and also, possibly, homes. Funerary offerings for the dead would be arrayed around it (Gilgamesh VII).
