Bochica

by Micha F. Lindemans
The great culture hero, creator and lawgiver of the Chibcha Indians of ancient Colombia. He came from the east and wandered across their country in the guise of an old bearded man (the many caves and natural "footprints" are associated with his passing). Bochica instructed their ancestors in the moral laws and taught them the most essential manual arts. Bochica became one of the most important deities of the Chibcha pantheon.
